1st Comm Construction Squadron

Merritt B. Scharnweber enlisted in the USAF in August, 1950. After completing basic training at Lackland AFB and Installer Cableman School at Cheyenne, Wyo., he was assigned to a new squadron, 1st Communications Construction Squadron, at Griffiss AFB, Rome, N.Y.

AACS Alumni Association

The AACS Alumni Association was created in 1977 and has been growing ever since. We have well over 2,700 members and continue to grow each year. The original Association was comprised of individuals who served in the Army Airways Communication System and/or the Airways and Air Communications Service. In 1995 a proposal was made to expand the Alumni Association to include individuals who also served in the Air Force Communications Service and the Air Force Communications Command.
