Sr Network/Telecommunications Engineer
Serve as an Sr Engineer on our existing HQ USAF telephony project. Provide engineering guidance and direction for a team of 4-6 engineers. Apply existing hands-on knowledge of telephony, networking, hardware and software as these relate to rolling out new telecommunications infrastructure within the AF. Oversee and provide final engineering analysis of assessement and requirements documents related to site survey of candidate medical treatment facilities USAF-wide. Support the team in evaluating technical solutions from a myriad of vendors, propose new technologies, monitor and support the on-site team installing the new equipment. Candidate will conduct market research of new and emerging technologies
Bachelors Degree in relevant engineering field and at least five (5) years technical experience in an appropriate engineering discipline. Certifications in relevant technologies.
7 - 10 years of experience in Networking, telephony, computers. Understanding of IP and LAN Technologies is required.
MCSE or UNIX certifications a plus. Strong working knowledge of telephony systems and certifications in relevant technology (Avaya, Nortel, Cisco, Nextel). Experience with database administration which includes Microsoft Access would be helpful. Experience with DoD and Air Force IA, DIACAP and SSAA processes highly desireable. Willing to Travel up to 25%.
A good mix of technology and telecommunications is essential. Stong desire to contribute and be part of a dynamic team. Good communication skills (verbal and written), able to work independently and as a team member a must. Must be able to pass background check (SF 85P/NAC/ADP-II only). Multi-tasking is critical. Telecom deployment experience or past AF experience is a plus.
